If all three of the pipes you are connecting have threads on the end, you will need a threaded tee or FIPT or FPTxFPTxFPT tee.
The abbreviations simply stand for female inside pipe thread and mean that the tee has female threads inside.
A FIPT tee has female threads on all three sides, meaning that your pipes will all need to have male threads.
The pipe ends are simply screwed into the fitting to form the joint.
All of our Schedule 40 fittings are NSF rated 14 & 61, which means they are certified for use with potable (drinking) water. Maximum temperature is 140 degrees F.
